Holidays Are coming

Preparations are underway at the RBRWH for the holiday season. Bird and friends are busy preparing for St. Andrew's Day on November 30. That day also marks the opening of Haggis season.

Of course Bird does have a connection to St. Andrew as he helped him flee from the Romans lo those many years ago. The photo at the left is from a cathedral in Glasgow.

Alf, our resident cockney explains St Andrew here,

"Saint Andrew is the Patron Saint of Scotland, and St. Andrew's Day is celebrated by Scots 'round the world on the 30ff November. He is fought ter have been the yunger bruvver of Simon Peter i.e. Saint Peter and boff men became apostles of Jesus Christ.

Alffough not much more is known about 'im, it is fought that 'e were crucified by the bleedin' Romans, the bloody diagonal shape of this cross bein' the bloomin' basis for the Cross of St. Andrew wich appears on the bloomin' Scottish Flag. As legend would 'ave it, a Greek Monk called St. Rule 'ad a dream tellin' of the chuffin' removal of St. Andrew's remains ter Constantinople by Constantine The Great, and were instructed by an angel ter find them and take as much of them as 'e could ter the "ends of the earff" for safe-keepin'. St. Rule took various body parts from St. Andrew's tomb and followed the instructions 'e 'ad been given in 'is dream. Cor blimey guv, would I lie to you? However, on 'is journey 'e were shipwrecked off the east coast of Scotland. The relics were 'oused for a wile in the Caffedral of St. Andrews in 1160, right, however they are now lost, right, probably destroyed durin' the Scottish Reformation."

During the days ahead the RBR will highlight some of the planning for the big celebration.

There were some unavoidable circumstances at the world headquarters late last week that caused delays in updating the Review. Bird is now rested and should be back to his normal schedule soon. Thank you to all who inquired.
