Coming Home a Hero

Bird will be winging his way back to the RBR World Headquarters tomorrow now that the crisis at Mt. St. Helens has ended.

Shortly before noon (Pacific Daylight Time) yesterday Bird did a flyover of the volcano and dropped two Alka Seltzers into the lava dome in the crater. At 12:03 PM (PDT) the volcano belched and sent a plume of steam and ash several thousand feet into the air. Shortly after that the steam and ash dissipated and the tremors coming from the volcano stopped. All has been quiet since and the mountain has apparently gone back to sleep.

Bird has recommended that the State of Washington switch St Helen to a daily Nexium to prevent further eruptions. Bird will be meeting with Governor Gary Locke later today to receive a formal "Thank You" on behalf of the local residents. The RBR will post the photos when they arrive.
