A Crime has Occurred

COLUMBUS, Ohio -- Columbus police are seeking the public's help after eight original, pink aluminum flamingo sculptures were cut from their concrete base and taken late last week.

The flock disappeared from the Ohio Glass and Aluminum Co.

The seven surviving birds are now safe inside the business and their owner's back yard. John Zook, the company's president, said the pilfered flock of 6-foot-tall flamingos is worth at least $7,000.

"They're not worth anything for scrap," Zook said. "They're aluminum but weigh very little. If someone appreciates them for what they're for, they wouldn't have stolen them in the first place."

The business has not had any problems with the flock until now. Both Bird and L'il P-Bird are assisting the Columbus police with the investigation.
