Not Enough Jail Time
DECATUR, Ill. (AP) — A 19-year-old Decatur man has pleaded guilty in connection with the decapitation of three exotic birds at Scovill Zoo.
Lloyd Pringle pleaded guilty Friday to a misdemeanor charge of criminal damage to property in the killings last Halloween of two Chilean flamingos and a white pelican. He will serve one year of conditional discharge, which is similar to probation, and two weekends in jail, officials said.
Macon County prosecutors originally charged Pringle with three counts of animal torture but dropped those charges.
If this had been in Flamingo Court Pringle would have been neutered.
