Landscape with Rider

This is a pen and brush sketch by the old master with a bronze and white wash and was done circa 1648. It depicts a horse and rider exercising in a Dutch park while the clean-up crew follows close behind to avoid violating the litter laws pertaining to picking up after your pet. One flamingo watches from a tree while another follows along beside the pick up boy.
The sketch is one of several Rembrandt sketches owned by the Hermitage Museum in St. Petersburg, which also owns more than several completed painting by the same artist. To the best of anyone's knowledge this sketch was never developed into a full painting because there was a shortage of pink pigment at the time, and what good is a flamingo without at least a little 'blush'.
