Happy New Year
The staff is struggling back in to the World Hedquarters after the revelery of the holiday season dragging their little bags of ibuprofen and aspirin products with them.
First to report back was the statistics department. They report 4314 separate visitors to the site since it joined the electronic world in May, switching from the occasional print publication format. Even more surprising was that the total number of visits numbered 18564, meaning a number of these folks felt compelled to visit much more than once. Bird is pleased.
Some Random Bird Droppings:
The most viewed article this year was the expose' on the Giant Plastic Jesus, and it was certainly the one that drew the most e-mails. Almost 1100 of the individual visitors dropped by for their first visit to read that article, and many of those folks also seemed inspired by the Immacualte Confections article. Inspired by the success of those articles the RBR is now working on developing a line of Christian Lollipops.
The search engines (Google, Yahoo, etc.) also provided some intersting statistics. The article most read as a result of a search in one of these search engines was the grand opening of the new Scottish Parliament Building at Hollyrood. That was followed closely by the missing pelicans in North Dakota and by Bird's assistance during the Florida Hurricane Season, the Cicada recipe's from last May, and the review of the movie Troy from early last summer.
The strangest search term that lead to a link to the RBR was the two people who happened to find the site using the search terms "Brad Pitt's butt." Both were directed to the review of Troy.
There are 24 time zones in the world and the RBR was accessed by 23 of them. The leading time zone was US Central Time, with a narrow edge over US Eastern Time. Third on the list was Greenwiwch Meantime, followed by Western australia time.
The largest number of visitors came from the United States, followed by Great Britain, Singapore, Canada, Australia, Italy, and Sweden. A total of 87 separate countries provided the visitors.
Only three countries registered single visits - obviouslty scared off by the unusual content and never to return. Those countries were Iran, Zimbabwe, and Mongolia.
