Pink Plate Special

While on his recent trip to The National Gallery of Art to participate in the Calder mobile Bird saw a remarkable plate attributed to workshop of Maestro Giorgio Andreoli of Gubbio.

This is a small flat plate with border of cornucopias, scrollwork, and lozenges in four sections.   Bird certainly found four open spots to add his unique touch to the plate.  In the center is a bust of Saint Paul with a raised sword to keep poachers away from the flamingos. The plate is probably c. 1515/1525
