The End of the World?

June 17, 2004 - Another 2,000 American White Pelicans have disappeared from the Chase Lake Wildlife Refuge, leaving behind hundreds of chick carcasses and eggs on an island. U. S. Fish and Wildlife project leader, Kim Hanson, says there are only about 300 adult pelicans left on the entire island. Pelicans have nested at Chase Lake for more than a hundred years without such baffling disappearances. So far, none of the 29,000 pelicans have showed up anywhere else and no one yet has an answer to the mystery.

Well, the folks on the forum over at Godlike Productions are all over this one and the loonies are out in full force. The general consensus is that this is the Rapture prophesied in the Book of Revelations. Funny, but in my wildest dreams I never imagined that the Rapture would only apply to pelicans. According to these wonderful folks the Hand of God is all over this one.

The only competing theory seems to be that this is somehow related to the large meteorite that will be hitting the west coast of the U.S. around 7:00 AM Pacific Daylight Time this Sunday. If you live on the west coast you might want to head inland until you reach at least 500 feet elevation.
