Economic Impact

Well, well, well.....

Just in time for a New Year's Eve celebration here at the World Headquarters comes an interesting little tidbit from the local media. As regular readers of this site may be aware the town of Monroe, Ohio, has two rather different attractions (and not much else) located less than a mile apart. Those attractions are pictured here.

The Giant Plastic Jesus sits just east of Interstate 75 while the Hustler super Store is just off the interstate at Ohio Route 63. The locals don't much care for the Hustler store, but that may be changing.

Guess which enterprise contributed the most to the local economy in 2004 according to just released figures?

So as not to keep you in too much suspense let's just say "porn trumps plastic." Yes, the superstore contributed about 6% more to the local economy than the mega-church where the plastic Jesus makes his home. Of course the clerks at Hustler make a living wage and Hustler pays a local sales tax while the church does neither. Hustler also pays real estate taxes, and again GPJ does not.

Judging by the latest Christmas gift exchange here at the World Headquarters a substantial part of Hustler's income came from RBR employees though we are forced to admit that some of our employees are on the strange side.
