Nanny and Rose

The RBR is proud to offer for your enjoyment Nanny and Rose by artist Scott Prior.

The painting hanging at the Museum of Fine Art in Boston was completed in 1983. It shows the artists wife, Nanny, and their dog Rose. Rose is busy trying to ignore the flamingo on the far side of the wall just outside the screened porch. Two other flamingos perch on the neighbor's porch. The artist admits that the painting was done primarily through a photograph because the dog was busy trying to get to the bird.

Nanny is an artist in her own right and is the daughter of novelist Kurt Vonnegut Jr.
