Party Time!

Tonight is St. Andrew's Eve. Here at the Rare Bird Review World Headquarters, as stated before, due to circumstances that still have the entire staff smoking mad the party had to be scaled back this year. The RBR has still not moved into the new World Headquarters Building because of the recent fire so word was sent to all the employees that the big event will now be the relocation party - when it finally happens. Undeterred a small crowd gathered yesterday for the chance at the few remaining tickets available for the St Andrew's Eve event.

Bird did issue an invitation to the county building inspector (pictured at the left with the cheap trick he picked up as a date), hoping to curry favor so that the s.o.b. would get the final inspection done and issue the occupancy permit for the newly renovated headquarters building.

The beverage of choice for this evening is an 18 year old Caol Isla, quite an interesting dram from the isle of Islay. The menu tonight will feature a tri-tip roast of Highland beef grilled to perfection over oak coals with some peat smoke added. The wine for that course will be a 2003 Kincaid Ridge cabernet sauvignon, from the winery in Ripley, Ohio. The smoked salmon appetizer will go nicely with the 2005 Kincaid Ridge Renaissance, a blend of white varietals that is certainly one of Bird's favorite drinks at the moment.

Of course, if it's St. Andrew's Eve, that means that Haggis hunting season starts at noon tomorrow (GMT), or 7:00 AM here in the eastern time zone. This year there appears to be no bag limit on the critters so "Happy Hunting!"
