Big Party
Word this morning is that there will be what sounds like a wonderful party in Eureka, California.
The scene will be at Strictly for the Birds in support of feathers over plastic, and attendees are encouraged to dress for the occasion in pink or tropical attire. The event will be the Pink Flamingo Flock-in from 6 to 9 p.m. Sept. 2 at Strictly for the Birds, 123 F St. in Eureka.
According to sponsors, “This party celebrates the 'tacky' pink flamingo lawn ornament and the real pink flamingo, which is depicted by these plastic creations.”
Anyone who buys a pink flamingo can get a certificate entitling them to membership in the Pink Flamingo Club. Pink refreshments will be served, including pink amaretto fudge provided by Old Town Coffee and Chocolates. There will be art and photos depicting pink flamingos done by a variety of local artists and photographers. There will also be a drawing for prizes including a pink flamingo stained-glass window.
Flamingos are usually found in tropical and subtropical areas, except for the ones who have taken up residence at the Sequoia Zoo.
Plastic flamingos can be found in any climate, but are not known to migrate far from home.
For more information call Strictly for the Birds at 445-1822.
While Birtd disagrees with the use of the word 'tacky' he may be taking a break from the big move to fly out to the flock in.
