The Grande Dame
The RBR is pleased to announce that the Grande Dame of all things Caribbean and South American is appearing on Think Pink. Arrangements were made with the estate of the late Carmen Miranda to dance and sing her way onto the CD. Carmen contributed two songs to the collection, Chica Chica Boom Chic and Mamae Eu Quero, both upbeat and happy numbers.The photo at the right is from a publicity poster Carmen in her prime in the late 1940's. She was always a favorite of Bird's mother and father so Bird is especially pleased to have two selections by her on the CD.
Work is complete on the liner notes and packaging for the grand premier on April 18th in the Rare Bird office shop. The kick off celebration at the World Headquarters will begin at 1:10 PM and will feature one of Carmen's old movies, that "they don't play on late midnight shows."
In addition Bird's good friend Tony Bird is jetting in from Zimbabwe to perform his selection on the CD for the multitude that will gather in the lobby. Bird was disappointed that Jimmy Buffet was unavailable for the event since his music is among Bird's favorites.
