What's a Pelican Festival without a Pelican?
Apparently still a big deal according to a story in The Toronto Globe and Mail about the town of Medina ND. Not to be defeated by the lack of birds the town has now printed T-shirts with the slogan "Where Have all the Pelicans Gone?" emblazened on the front.
There's still no explanation for the disappearance, but The RBR really liked the idea that electronic pest repellants were to blame.
Barring unforseen events this should serve as a recap and farewell to the summer's biggest bird mystery. We'll check back next May and see if the birds return. The RBR wonders if Pat Boone be there singing...

"When the pelicans come back to North Dakota
That’s the day you promised to come back to me
When you whispered, "Farewell" in North Dakota
T'was the day the birds decied to flee.
All the church bells will ring
The biologists will sing
The happiness you’ll bring
Will live in my memory
When the pelicans come back to North Dakota
That‘s the day I pray that you’ll come back to me!"
